It’s been a whirlwind week on the blogs in general, the national ones like dKos and AMERICAblog in particular. If you haven’t yet heard about Karl Rove and his (incendiary, indecent, reprehensible…what word really portrays it?) comments, you can get the scoop here at AMERICAblog, and the comment itself I will post here (bold mine):
“Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers,” Rove said. “Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war…. Conservatives saw what happened to us on 9/11 and said we will defeat our enemies. Liberals saw what happened to us and said we must understand our enemies…. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals,” Rove said.
There can be little said that has not already been said. But in case any readers hadn’t yet heard of this, I thought I would point it out.
It’s also fun to watch the heads explode trying to explain it.

This is all nonsense talk by the talking heads to infuriate the “get a life” activists on both sides of the aisle.
The bottom-line is that both parties acted decisively, with some leadership from Bush, and were in Afghanistan within 30 days after 9/11. The Taliban was eliminated, woman and children were free, and no longer is Afghanistan a safe have for terrorist training camps.
It is regrettable that Bin Laden is in Pakistan however, but his influence and network has been essentially muted. Thanks to both parties!

I think you missed the point of the thing.
Rove and his attack dogs are trying to point the blame for the failure in Iraq and the level of insurgency on liberals and their intent. It was a blatantly stupid thing to say, but don’t think he said it without thinking. He meant it. This is the new reality - where the party that is very much not in power is blamed for what the party that is very much in power has fucked up.
This isn’t about the truth of the matter at all. It’s partisan attacks of the lowest kind - saying that one whole group of people are anti-American for questioning the President. It’s Rove showing his true colors (again). It’s about setting up (even if incompetently) another damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don’t situation for the Dems, forcing them to look terrible if they criticize, however legitimately, but of course saying nothing makes them look terrible too.
It is regrettable that Bin Laden is in Pakistan however, but his influence and network has been essentially muted. Thanks to both parties!
Time will tell. I think you’re living in a dream world. Iraq has done more to beef up the terrorists’ cause than anything pre-9/11.

You can sense it all around. It is growing.
What?
