Never Met A Goth? It Might Be Time!

by at 2:53 pm.

You know those mysterious, dangerous goths? The ones City Manager John Cox apparently is afraid will ruin the high-falutin’ image of his precious city? Well, they’re taking their cause to City Hall, Thursday, Sept 8 at 3pm. Whether it’s rank curiosity about what a goth looks like, or it’s just you’d really love pissing off John Cox, you should go down to City Hall tomorrow afternoon to support their cause. For the sake of our artists and businesses, which for once have a mutual goal.

I joke about the curiosity thing. This whole “Goth” obsession has gotten out of hand. For goodness’ sake, stop stereotyping, and that goes for you too, Lowell Sun! Us freaks and geeks come in all shapes, sizes, flavors, and personalities. Stop thinking of them as this monolithic group of mystifying aliens. They have jobs. Families. Different political ideas. This group just happens to share the love of the same music and wants to find a place where they are welcome to listen to it, and at the same time, spend their hard earned dollars having a good time in town just like everyone else does.
