I’m running around like a nut the last two days getting ready to move my home office into its new space in the new year. I have stuff I want to write about but I will have to fit it in between buying paint, role-playing games, and cleaning the space from the two inches of dust it’s under so I can apply aforementioned paint on walls.
It’s going to be exciting, even if it’s going to be a lot of work next week! Wish me luck.
This is your open thread for the day (or night, too, if’n ya got nothing better to do!)
(Oh yeah! And go register as a Democrat by today if you want to be part of the caucuses for Deval Patrick!)

What is going on with the Lowell City budget? It seems that each week there is a new special meeting to deal with surprises. In the latest, the claim is no additional change to the tax rate. Let’s hope that this series of manipulations doesn’t come home to roost in the next fiscal year. Bills will be arriving soon, and for this quarter and next, the increase will be doubled, so plan accordingly if you receive a RE tax bill.

Looks like the folks in Kearney Sq have decided reading Lynn’s blog is a good way to get a
feel for what the unwashed masses are talking about. Today’s Saturday Chat by Kendal Wallace
has him portraying himself in a thoughtful mood about how to increase voter turnout, one of
HIS ideas? District Councilors! Of course he’s still pushing for an appointed school
board because elected officials aren’t smart enough. That’s kind of the same argument they
make for appointed planning and zoning boards and “professional” city managers. Kind of makes
you wonder about the IQ of the people in the city/state/country that we voters actually do
elect heh? LOL
