As of this weekend, the caucuses are over. By some accounts I’ve heard, Patrick picked up more than two-thirds of the delegates (who’ve committed), a higher number than the early reports.
But the media still doesn’t seem to understand what’s happening here. It’s holding the line, Reilly’s line, that the caucuses don’t really count as a test of a candidate because it’s full of liberal activists whose opinions don’t matter because they aren’t the mainstream. They don’t understand there’s a movement afoot which has been building for a while now, and includes people from every walk of life, every background, who have decided “enough politics as usual” - and found a candidate they not only believe in, but for whom they have gotten off the couch and into the streets.
The media doesn’t get it. But we can make them understand. We can give Patrick a “Caucus Bounce” by sending lots of new donations his way. We bloggers have created a “Team Patrick” page to track donations made through the “Caucus Bounce” effort. I encourage you to donate because candidates need money as well as volunteers that show up at caucuses. If that money comes from us, the people, instead of insiders and rich lawyers, that’s one more nail in the coffin for the old ways of doing politics.
If you’ve been considering donating to Patrick, do it now!
