Will the REAL Kerry Healey Please Step Forward

by at 10:43 am.

Like David, I found this Herald endorsement of Kerry Healey (besides predictable) really laughable. And pathetic! And…awfully short. They must have run out of of justifications real quick (bold mine):

Kerry Healey is a far better candidate and a far better person than the campaign she waged.

The Kerry Healey we have gotten to know during her years as lieutenant governor is smart, committed and passionate about the issues that are important to the people of Massachusetts - issues like education and lower taxes and keeping your word to the voters. But it is an unfortunate fact of political life that few people in this state got to know that woman and her able running mate, Reed Hillman, former head of the state police and a former legislator.

It is even more unfortunate that this campaign hardly ever focused on issues

The Boston Herald is pleased to endorse the real Kerry Healey, a woman who is fully qualified to lead this state as governor.

As David says, yeah, right…Kerry Healey had nothing to do with the tone of her campaign, or how it was run, and who bought orange jumpsuits so a bunch of skinheads could go intimidate the family of Patrick’s campaign manager. Nothing Muffy coulda done about that, really. It doesn’t reflect her character when she doesn’t condemn the tactics of said “volunteers” or can’t stop talking about old cases of Deval’s while avoiding the true facts about those cases.

I can’t wait to see what twists and distortions of logic the Lowell Sun comes up with when they finally endorse Kerry Healey! Ought to be a blast chewing that to pieces.

I will be happy when the Herald and Sun start thinking for themselves. These are the two papers that endorsed Bush both times. Its a joke that they would even bother to spin her awful campaign into something positive. The only positive point i see is that the Democrats will take over the corner office once again. The herlad can take their awful rag, with their howie carrs and Gerry Callahans spitting their hate onto whoever will listen. The fact is, I am happy that the herald supports Healey, its only fitting that two losers come together. Please get out and vote, polls dont mean anything. Romney was losing in the polls when he was elected. We want a big win, we want to give Deval a mandate to make massachusetts better.

    Dan:

It appears that the Sun’s editorial page is building-up to the Healey endorsement. Today they had an anti-Patrick editorial (surprise!); the second one in as many weeks. If they keep this up they will not have anything new to say when they finally endorse her.

  3. Ryan Says:

Correction for Dan: The Herald endorsed John Kerry in 2004.

  4. Zama Says:

Poor pitiful Muffy. She can’t even stand up to her advisers, who force her against her will to run a sewer of a campaign, but don’t worry, that just indicates what a strong leader she is. I’ll take cognative dissonance for $100, please, Alex.

  5. waittilnextyr Says:

The Sun exists because it is the only local paper, but why the Herald? Is it because it can be more easily read while on the subway? Note that it has about 1/3 the circulation that the Globe has, and while they are both suffering from reduced readership, the Herald is falling faster at 13% year-over-year.

  6. Atilla the Nun Says:

I got a bead on tomorrow’s internet poll in the Sun. The question is: “Who would be a better surrogate parent to a family of stray kittens, Kerry Healey or Deval Patrick”. Vote now at www.Lowellsunfluff.com.

  7. Mike Says:

Too little, too late. Nothing short of Deval being arrested in the next 7 days will change the forgone result of this election.

  8. waittilnextyr Says:

Keep the other Kerry out of the picture - no “help” wanted!

  9. Ryan Says:

Well, Mike, as the saying goes, “caught with a dead girl or a live boy.”

  10. Dan M, Says:

Ryan, thanks for the correction. In the politics section of the Lowell Sun (online addition) there is an unnamed pollster saying that Devals lead is single digits. I am not sure whether I believe this or not, but its another reason to get out and make calls, put up signs and talk to anyone who will listen about what Patrick brings to the table. I dont want a single digit victory. I want a landslide.

  11. Tim Little Says:

Personally, I want to see if Deval can break 60%.

  12. Josh Says:

What’s with the “Muffy” label for Healey?

  13. Lynne Says:

What, you’ve never heard it before? It comes from one of your own, after all. A conservative’s name for a lightweight candidate. Though he resolved not to call her Muffy anymore during the campaign. But the name stuck like glue.

  14. Josh Says:

Ahh Howie Carr, I shoulda figured.

  15. Rachel Says:

As a former Patrick supporter, I can say with confidence that Kerry Healey is going to win on Tuesday. Why? Because the voters are on to you. No kidding, I was once with a bunch of Patrick supporters who all shrugged and said they weren’t originally planning to vote for them. I then said, “What gives?” They were only there because they were forced to be there (by their employer)…Forced?

Yeah, you can figure it out. Like I said, we’re all on to you.

  16. Lynne Says:

Rachel, you are such a transparent shill it’s not even much worth my time to poke fun at you.
