The Sun’s web site reports that State Rep. Rep. Linda Dean Campbell (15th Essex/Methuen) and Methuen Mayor Bill Manzi, a fellow blogger, have joined a long list of elected public servants from the MA 5th Congressional District to endorse the candidacy of Eileen Donoghue for Congress.
Campbell and Manzi were joined by Methuen Councilor Deborah Quinn and Larry Geiordano as well as former Methuen Councilor Michael Condon and former State Senator James Jajuga in their endorsement. Of course, Senator Steven A. Baddour, (First Essex; Haverhill/Methuen) endorsed Donoghue a while ago.
As a supporter of the former Mayor of Lowell and current City Councilor, I am thrilled that elected officials of this type and from this particular town are behind her candidacy. Methuen has 27,411 registered voters, 85% of which are registered Democrat or un-enrolled. Last fall, over 50% of those registered came out to vote.

It’s Haverhill and the Andovers everybody. That’s where the battle will be won.

I agree that one can play with statistics. Methuen results for 2006 gubernatorial race: Healey, 6,491 votes and Patrick, 6,457; each got 46% of the votes. By the way, my point about Methuen numbers was for the primary not the general election. And yes, in the 5th District, Healey did better than she did statewide; 40% to 35%. She did carry the towns of Greater Lowell and Greater Lawrence; although not by very much. I do not know how this will translate in the congressional race.

Are you implying that Lowell, Lawrence, Dracut and Chelmsford are a done deal? If so, for which candidate(s)?

Not implying that at all, I just feel that Lowell and Lawrence will see dismal turnouts for this primary. At one time, you needed Lowell for a victory but this time I think we’ll be lucky to see 15 thousand here. I don’t think Lawrence will be any higher unless Finegold can move some voters, which won’t be good for your gal.

wow, Congrats to those elected officials. They seem to recognize Eileens knowledge , skills and abilities when it comes to getting things done.
Why can’t low watt bulb Bud,Nangle, Golden, Rita, Armand or the MacMahons see this? oh I forgot they take their marching orders from Cox.

I meant to say Healey and Mihos as over 50% of the vote. Patrick also only got 50.6% of the vote in the MA-05 district. This is a conservative leaning district as shown by the state Reps that serve it and State Senators. Pangy, Golden, Hargraves, Miceli, Greene, et al. nobody’s ever confused those gues with progressives.

Panagiotakos actually doesn’t get a bad rating on the MA scorecard (adherance to the Dem party platform) for 2005. He earns an A, the only mark against him was for his gay marriage stance.
Golden gets a C, as does Miceli. Hargraves is Republican, so that’s obvious.
Then there’s Atkins, Susan Fargo, and Susan Tucker, all with an A. I dunno, it seems to be rather mixed in the area in terms of state representation and how conservative or liberal it is.
