It is difficult for most readers to figure out which anonymous it is. This way we can follow your comments and weigh their validity a little bit better. So get yourself a name, an identity. In discussing this congressional race, why do people insist on telling us that the only poll that counts is the one on September 4th? We know that; and we know the other poll are just an indication of what might be going on.
Since May 2005 since this blog started, we have only talked about sports once but the Rodney Harrison issue goes deeper than that. He cheated. And getting on a conference call to make a speech without facing the press is not in keeping with his image of a though guy. And what was the Patriots’ coaching and medical staff doing while he was taking banned substances?
I have begun to warm up to Ogonowski as a candidate. I was a bit harsh earlier on but he is getting better and maybe his campaign has learned from the criticism.
The corner of Powell, Plain and Chelmsford Streets is scheduled to get a makeover; to make the place safer and make the traffic flow better. Since I drive through it at least four times a day, here is my simple suggestion. Cars stop at the traffic light when it turns orange; do not proceed. You are causing the problem; not the intersection.
I like the new red, orange, blue shirts the DD staff is wearing.
I read in this morning’s Kendall Wallace column in the Sun that at the Tuesday night MA-05 Debate, City Councilor Jim Milinazzo had to ask a Tsongas supporter who was booing when Eileen was speaking that she was being rude, and to sit down and behave. That woman was lucky that she was sitting next to Jim and not some other Donoghue supporters, because we may not have been so polite; right Fran?

I don’t think I’m going to be all that hard on Rodney Harrison just yet.
According to ESPN, Harrison was taking a human growth hormone to speed his recovery from a couple of serious injuries, not to enhance his playing. I can certainly understand why he took it.
Yep, it’s banned, yep he got caught and instead of appealing and making a big deal he’s admitted it and taking the punishment.
Didn’t know I follow the Patriots did you? LOL

I just returned from Chelmsford Center, where I held a large banner for my candidate Eileen Donoghue. We were pleasantly surprised when Eileen and John showed up. Now I have stood in that Center during umpteen campaigns and the recepton Eileen received from passing motorists was one of the best I’ve ever seen. As to rude conduct at debates or in fact at any public speaking forum,it shows clearly that person’s lack of social graces. Though that person may proclaim their right to their comments, they must remember it does reflect on the candidate and people do notice. And yes Mimi, that child would have been thoroughly chastised by me!
GO EILEEN!

Speaking of unconnected things, in the past two days I have received 4 identical mailings, my name misspelled exactly the same on all four, from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. I haven’t opened any because I intend to send them back to find out who’s spending all this money on mailings. The front of the envelope, which is 11 3/8 in. by 12 5/8 in., tells me that there is a letter inside addressed to my congressman Marty Meehan and that it’s ready for my signature to mail to him. It’s urging him to vote no on any “bad” proposal which would harm SS and Medicare. The postage is metered to a non-profit org. Who are these people and how many others also received multiple mailings?

If Harrison was taking HGH during the off-season to recover from his injury, his contact with the Patriots’ coaching and medical staff would have been very limited. He would have been seeing his own doctor, and probably lives in another part of the country.

Joe, yep I believe Harrison said that he took the HGH on his own to speed the recovery from his injuries and that the Pats had nothing to do with it because he wasn’t with the team at the time, he was out injured!
I also got mailings, two of them, nearly identical one page campaign items from Barry on the same day, back to back, and both addressed to me! I just kind of wondered if the company he hired to do his mailings are actually looking at where they are sending them or just running up the tab because they can?
POD/Mimi, you guys wanna be alone? LOL

BTW, Clay Buchholz (sp) became the first rookie pitcher in Red Sox history (only his second game in the majors) to pitch a NO HITTER! Yes, for the Red Sox!

Barry Bonds is bad, but Rodney Harrison has an excuse, because he’s a Patriot? That doesn’t fly with me.
I’m also thrilled for Fran that Eileen got a nice reception from Chelmsford Center drivers. Niki got a nice reception last night at the Spinners game. According to Barry’s internal polls, he got warm greetings on Main Street in Andover yesterday, which his campaign claims was second only to Niki’s reception.
I noted from the wiffle ball photo in the Lowell Sun the other day revealed that Jamie Eldridge is a lefty.
Thank God its almost Tuesday!

I never mentioned Barry Bonds did I? But since you bring it up, Bonds used steroids to enhance his abilities on the playing field, Rodney Harrison used human growth hormones to speed his recovery from injuries during the off season.
It has nothing to do with who these men play for.
One was to enhance his performance to superstar status the other was for medicinal reasons and big surprise, the guy who used it to help heal himself took his punishment like a man and admitted his wrongdoing.
If that doesn’t fly with you, stay on the ground

Fran,
The National Committee has been around for 25 years and is very legit, with million of members nationwide. They’re most known for leading the charge against Bush’s Social Security privatization scheme a few years ago. Their website is www.ncpssm.org if you want to see more. I’m sure you could contact them directly if you’ve been getting multiple mailings.

Why is Barry Bonds sending Eleanor junk mail?
September 6th, 2007 at 1:43 pm
HGH is a banned substance, he knew it was illegal, he used it to gain a competitive advantage. He is as guilty as Barry Bonds. He embarrassed the team. I love the guy, i think he is one of the best safeties in the game, but we can NOT give him a pass just because he plays for the whole team.
