Ohohoboy, the best part about following the national 2008 race is watching the public vet the Republicans. Frankly, I am loving our chances against any of them, be it Flippity-Floppity Mitt, Taxpaid Cheater Rudy, or *yyyyyyaaaaaaawn* Put ‘Em’ta Sleep Fred. The only one I was worried about (a bit) was Huckabee, who’s been surging in the polls and actually has his wits about him when he talks (though he’s deeply, deeply religious-conservative).
Well, I fear no more. I relish him winning, in fact. Because Huckabee is insane. The latest group who will be appalled (should he win his way into the general election) will be any woman who, well, isn’t submissive. So, the majority of us. Specifically, he signed on to an ad agreeing with the statement, “A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ.” Got that?
For a list of other amazingly unattractive things about Huckabee, this is a great top ten list. I can only say, if you have not seen his “my rising poll numbers are due to God” speech, it’s creepy as all get-out - and all over the internets.
Then there’s his “AIDs victims should be quarantined” thought pattern…long after it was well known how AIDs spreads and doesn’t spread (hint: it’s not from a toilet seat). *sniff, sniff.* I think I smell very well done toast.
It’s also real fun watching him backpedal lamely. 2008 will be so much fun! No matter what Republican gets the nomination, there’s just so much ammo, I could cry from the sheer entertainment value. The blog posts write practically write themselves…

Ah yes - but don’t forget that someone who dodged the draft, took a no-show National Guard job, is geography and foreign policy challenged, made a decorated Vietnam vet cry uncle. If there is a way for the Democrats to mess this up, I’m pretty sure they will.

For me his comment on “Quarantine of AIDS victims” was by far the worst. This coming from a minister; where is the compassion?

Oh, Lynne… let’s talk about Huckabee tomorrow on LeftAhead! I’d just die to jump at the chance… between submissive women and gays-are-the-end-of-civilization nonsense, it would just be too much fun.

Bob - point taken!
Though, besides Hilary, to be honest, I like our choices. (Well, a couple of the third tier candidates aren’t great, but they have a shot in hell at this point really.)

What scares me is this crap goes over really well in the South. The chances of Hillary or Obama carrying the South are about……zero. Romney?? too eastern, although he’s from the Midwest. Giuliani?? Too sleazy. Huckleberry Huckabee?? Just what they’re lookin’ fer.

I voted for Bush in the past two elections. I have also voted for Bill Clinton in the past. I consider myself a moderate. I could not vote for John Kerry or Al Gore. I just couldn’t find common groud with either of them and I just didn’t feel like a connection to them. If Huckabee is the Republican nominee I will vote for the Democrat. No matter who he or she is. Everything I’ve read recently about who Huckabee is and what he believes really scares me. And People are worried about Romney’s religion. This guy is a Trojan horse. Quarintine Aids patients, relegate women to the kitchen where he belives they belong, support of tuition for illegals, not just tuition but grants (I can’t get that for my college aged child). Yikes!!! This guy is a Democrats dream to run against. As a woman I just cannot vote for a guy like this.

Huckabee’s got a point, but he really should have added that you should switch off once in a while to keep things from getting boring.
Oh, he meant it THAT way. Naw, that’s just nuts.

I also suspect that Huckabee isn’t one of those those “moderate one’s language once in the general election.” So I hope (fervently) that if he wins the nomination, everyone will get a chance to know these crazy things about him.
joe: LMAO!
