Lowell Film Fest

by at 11:08 am.

Did you know Lowell has a film festival? On April 4th & 5th, there will be a series of documentary and feature films around the subject of globalization and immigration. You can check out what’s going to play on their website, as well as get the details of a film short contest they are holding for local aspiring filmmakers. :)

Locations vary and a schedule will be forthcoming, but locations vary all over town from the National Park Visitor’s Center, UTEC, the Pollard Library, the Revolving Museum, Boott Mill Museum and the O’Leary Library of UMass Lowell.

Good to know that everyone’s fully support indie films and amateur filmmakers creations! Have any of you already made some shorts or online videos/films for any contests or festivals? I know that they’re now allowing online content like webisodes and online films to be eligible for nomination in this years Primetime Emmy’s? I think last year they were allowed for the DT Emmy’s, so it’s pretty cool they’re actually considering online amateur/indie footage for nomination this year. If you’re interested or want to read more, check out www.emmys.com . I’m workin with the Academy to help spread the message about the new nominations, so if you get to check it out let me know! And spread the love =)

I have had graduate students and undergrads at UML use I-movie, photos they’ve taken around Lowell and video interviews they’ve done to make 8 - 12 minute shorts; some of these will be shown in the Lowell film festival. And, we are looking for more that relate to the overall themes of the festival.
