If you check out the agenda for next Tuesday’s City Council meeting, there is only one motion. It is from City Councilor Mike Lenzi. It might be his inaugural motion, I am not sure. But it is one that makes sense.
Council meet every other Tuesday year round
Here are the reasons why I think the City Council should approve this motion and make the necessary changes in the CC meeting rules, if it need be:
1. It would allow the Administration do some work rather than having to spend his time getting ready for a CC meeting.
2. Sub-Committee meetings held on Tuesday nights do not need to be rushed; they can be more substantive.
3. They meet every other week in the Summer and the City runs fine then.
4. It would help those CC members who have a full time career, family obligations and other community involvement. It may even attract more candidates.
5. It would cut down on the cost of broadcasting on LTC; the Sun’s City Hall budget and LiL posts on the CC meetings.
I am sure readers have dozens of other reasons why we should go ahead and support CC Lenzi’s motion but these are a few that came to mind when I read his motion.
OK, as a complete and total geek, I think this is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a loooong time. A friend sent it to me, I give it to you to enjoy.
Today on Thinking Out Loud, we’ll be talking to Fred Marcks, a member of a neighborhood group opposed to the proposed Billerica plant. He’ll talk about the many reasons that the plant poses risks to all the surrounding towns.
