Check out Jennifer Myers’
article on the Sun’s web site. There are quite a few interesting comments about the Lowell process in selecting the new Superintendent. Here is a sampling:
“Bonner said she felt a stronger community connection to and investment in education and choosing a new superintendent among the people of New Bedford than in Lowell.”

Dr. Chris Augusta Scott has been selected. The first vote was 4-2 (SC R. Faticanti and D. Conway and 1 present(J. Leahey); and then the 3 changed their vote.

Wouldn’t that have made the first vote 3-2-1?
I have to tell you that I am pleasantly shocked! I would have bet the house that after another nationwide search the SC would have hired Wendy Jack. Good luck to Dr Augusta Scott I wish her well.

Never mind on my count. I didn’t think Bud would have been there since he’s undergoing prostate cancer surgery next week. My mistake.

Scott was my choice! I am thrilled the School Committe chose a candidate with the academics AND the business sense.

Bonner was right. Who actually got to meet the candidates? Most districts have a process where the community gets to question the candidates and get to know them as people. Let’s hope they got this one right.

Dr. Scott is a wonderful candidate and I am glad she was chosen
