Ahhhh…finally. BSG is back on the air. I can breath again.
Yeah, I’m a total fracking fanatic. (Not the Baltar-works-miracles kind though. Those chicks were creepy!)
Have this free open thread for the weekend. Talk about spring, please. I froze my tuckus off in the rain/cold this morning. What’s the deal with the fracking weather?
Oh, and if you correctly guess the number of times BSG characters used “fracking” on tonight’s episode, you get the prize.
Update: I should mention there could be spoilers in the comments.

It’s back omygods omygods omygods.
But if Starbuck shoots Roslin, I’ll swear off the series right there, drive to Vancouver and leave a hot foot on Ron Moore’s doorstop. Seriously, I thought I loved President Josiah Bartlett, but that was because I hadn’t yet gotten to know President Roslin.
My off the wall theory that will be way wrong…Cylons can be hybrid, and the raiders are Cylon as well. They are pretty much self-aware biological/mechanical constructs. The last Cylon is a machine model, often known as Battlestar Galactica.

My theory (developed recently, before tonights’ preview of next week, which confirmed I might be right) is that the Cylons are going to have to come to grips with doing that which they hate humans for - enslaving their kind.
At least, if this were a role playing game, and I was the game master, that’s how I would write it. We already know that the machine Cylons are almost like drones, somewhat self-aware but limited. Limited…but how and by whom?
I think we may have seen the last Cylon in the preview for next week. I mean, who was that chick on the basestar who demanded they stop lobotomizing the drones? I was sort of watching the TV sideways (having run up to catch the preview at the last second) but I didn’t recognize her.

Pretty sure that was Lucy Lawless…the “boxed” model who was doing things that she shouldn’t have been doing. She’s apparently managed to unbox herself and intent on running things her way. What that way is, I don’t know, though in the series she didn’t seem to have much of a soft spot for humanity.

Ah, maybe. Hope I can catch that preview again and take another look. Since I wasn’t expecting her, I probably wasn’t looking for her.
But if it was her, how the heck did she, as you put it, unbox herself?
No, the real question I want answered is, we know Tigh has been around at least 40 years. How the blazing suns is he a Cylon?
Here, there’s an interesting insight:

I’ve been looking forward to this episode for a year…
Rewatched all the seasons over the last month to get re-entergized.
Then my comcast tivo died YESTERDAY afternoon.
Fought with them all day to try to fix it. I had friends coming over to watch this.
I had to swipe the cable box from my kid’s room so that I could watch this.
I’m still steaming at comcast, who still havent fixed the frackin box.. so I couldnt record the episode.
I hope I can find it somewhere in bittorrent to rewatch later.
But: cylon #5? I’m betting on Cottle.

For an open thread moment:
5th District Caucus for Obama supporters elected Jamie Eldridge and Faye Morrison as delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver for August 25th-28th. Best wishes to both, you will represent the District very well.

Well, I’m such a geek I record all BSG episodes, Lynne. So I went back and looked at the preview, and I was wrong. And the new Cylon is new…it’s not Grace Park, Tricia Helfer, or Lucy Lawless. It’s somebody I’ve never seen before, so perhaps a new Cylon or it’s a Dick Sargeant/York move. And giving the preview a third look, what’s flanking her are not the typical Centurion, but ones with a larger gun/more open legs/a metal collar around the neck. Possibly a new model, which would explain why they object to “lobotomizing” the raiders.

It’s OK but it’s no Gilligan’s Island! Happy Sunday

Shawn: ouch. Bummer…hope it gets fixed ASAP. I do hate Comcast, they are only outmatched for poor customer service by Verizon.
Heh, nice to know my eyes were not deceiving me, Sabutai! Nice catch on the form of the Centurions.
