Next week, the Governor will be in Lowell for one of four public cabinet meetings. According to the website:
The meetings will be open to the public, giving residents a chance to talk directly to Governor Patrick about issues they care about most such as education reform, health care and the economy. Governor Patrick will also assemble his full Cabinet for four meetings in different regions of Massachusetts, giving the public more opportunities to ask questions and raise important matters in their communities.
I’m not sure what to expect from one of these “public cabinet meetings,” but it should be interesting. The Lowell event will be on July 22, 9am, somewhere at UMass Lowell (exact location still TBD).
So what would YOU ask Governor Patrick? About his sweeping ed reform? About the environment, green jobs, or the proposed Billerica power plant? Economic development? (And I’ll try to take the best questions with me next Tuesday if I can. I always have my audio recorder on me.

Ask him if there’s any truth to the rumor that he’s not running for reelection. That’s why Murray is appearing everywhere and why he was so understanding about his daughter coming out. Heading to Washington perhaps?

Here’s an update on the location from the Governor’s Office:
“Please join Governor Deval Patrick, Lt. Governor Tim Murray and their Executive Cabinet at the Butler Middle School in Lowell on Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., July 22, for the second of four public Cabinet meetings. Butler Middle School is located at 1140 Gorham Street.
Keeping his commitment to encourage civic engagement and to be Governor of the whole Commonwealth, Governor Patrick’s meetings will give residents a chance to talk directly to him about issues they care most about. The meetings are part of the administration’s efforts to make state government accessible for all people in the Commonwealth. “

I do find the comments here rather depressing. It’s not like, for one, thing, that Patrick hasn’t been by Lowell before, or won’t be back again. This is the schedule, and get over it.
Moonlight, I find you barely appropriate. And rather offensive. Please tone it down.
Aren’t there any real questions (not provocative ones that are anti immigrant, because I myself support THE CHILDREN of immigrants getting instate tuition - THEY STILL are not eligible for gov grants/loans, please get over this sometime in the next century - and I’ll be damned if I further your barely-disguised bigotry).
In any case, I plan to attend, and audio record the meeting to post it, so yes, maybe you can’t be there during the week, but I was offering to make it more accessible. I’m as cynical as the next person, you all know I am, but for deity’s sake, folks, this is an opportunity to engage on the issues that really affect us. Not to parrot conservative talking points that distort the truth (at their best) or outright lie (at their worst). Thanks.

“Purely hypothetically, Governor: if there was a governor named Patrick DuVall, and he was close with a presidential candidate who wnt on to win the election, what cabinet post do you think Governor DuVall would be most interested in?”

Cute, joe, and in keeping with my promise, as I vowed to always not take you seriously because you are always tongue in cheek, I salute you.
