Before I head back downtown to work, I wanted to comment on yesterday’s activities. Another great Festival. In addition to a lot of visitors, residents from the various neighborhoods were enjoying; a lot of volunteers.
Last night the streets were also packed. I am glad many of the merchants did so well.
It looks like the weather will hold up; so come back downtown and participate. The City looks great.

Wow. The Skatelites. I saw them 15 years ago, and they were old then.
I love it here.

We were downtown yesterday and enjoyed the Whitetop Mountain Band (that girl in cowboy boots could really dance), the guitar workshop, the Quebecois group Reveillons, the Dominican guitarist, Puerto Plata, and of course, all the great food. We ran for it when the rains came down and made it to the Blue Taleh. They were pretty full by the time we left around 6:00 pm and the manager said they were packed on Friday and Saturday night. So, it does seem as if the businesses did well. I just wonder if the Festival got enough donations. Despite volunteers with buckets and beads working the crowds, I didn’t see that many people wearing beads….

We took our nieces (age 1 and 4) on Sunday to enjoy the music, but especially the fun and games. (You should see the little one boogie though!) It looked like a lot of merchants were doing well and the new little clothing shop on Merrimack (Frankie’s new biz) looked packed when I stopped by a sec on Saturday while getting my farmer’s market veggies. (If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a funky, classy little shop! Just what downtown needs.)
The Art in the Courtyard artists and artisans looked busy too. Though it was interesting seeing everyone scramble around in the rain! (I hope nothing of theirs got too wet). Man, did it come down all of a sudden!
