Sarah Agrees to Face the Media; Well Sort Of

by at 9:05 pm.

According to the Globe’s web site “Sarah Palin has agreed to sit down with ABC’s Charles Gibson later this week for her first television interview.” I think Gibson is a good choice for her inaugural press interview. He will be polite but will not compromise his professional integrity. I can’t wait she sits down with Keith Olberman. Hey, they are both ex-sportcasters and I am sure they will connect. :-)

In a Reuter story posted on the Globe’s web site, RickDavis, McCain-Palin Campaign Manager, said “So until at which point in time we feel like the news media is going to treat her with some level of respect and deference, I think it would be foolhardy to put her out into that kind of environment.”

Apparently, the Vice-Presidential candidate is cautious in speaking to the press because the mainstream media and the evil liberal bloggers are mean to her.

Are you kidding me? So if the Republican win, Palin will be kept hidden behind close doors until Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and a series of world leaders, who are not so friendly, learn to play nice with her.

If she is the though person we are told she is, let her face all of the music and tell people to mind their own business when they ask a personal questions and fully answer when they ask a public policy question.

And while the Republicans are busy singing the same old song, attacking the media instead of answering questions, the real world marches on; the federal government has put Freddy and Fannie under “conservatorship”; the unemployment rate has hit a five year high; U.S. troops carried out another military incursion in politically unstable Pakistan; and of course the tragedy of all tragedies, Tom Brady hurt his knee.

We should all be very scared of the Freddie/Fannie bailout. This has large implications for the future, for the markets (who are getting too used to being bailed out) and for taxpayers.

And even worse, Brady might be out the whole season. :(

Tawmee Touchdown is done for the year folks, embrace the madness. Look at it this way- you won’t EXPECT the Pats to win every week any more and the wins will feel good again instead of ho-hum like they have for the last three years (besides the playoffs of course).

“I can’t wait she sits down with Keith Olberman.” It took Obama almost two years to sit down with Bill O’Reilly, and he did it on the same night at McCain accepting the GOP nomination.

    So
    a) why do you think she’ll sit down with the liberal eqivelant after two weeks?
    b) What does she have to gain by doing so? No one who watches MSDNC is going to vote for her or McCain anyway, not to mention the fact NBC just benched KO and Mr. Tingle from election night anchor duty for “lack of neutrality”.

It would seem to me that deliberately sending US forces into Pakistan would be some sort of violation of international law. Thus, one would think that such incursions into Pakistan by US forces would be classified, if for no other reason, to protect our friends in the Pakistani Government. If the incursions were classified, we wouldn’t know about them. If we know about them, then either they aren’t classified or they didn’t happen. If, in fact there were incursions and the news reports are correct, then people should be fired–by that I mean people within the Department of Defense and Department of State (and the CIA). Alternative answers verge on our elected officials not being in charge of their own policy or grandstanding. Neither of those would be good.

    Regards — Cliff
