It looks like Scott is going to seek criminal charges.
The big question is, will Faticanti resign, or try to run for reelection with this hanging over her? If she really did something wrong, she’d be better off resigning now in my opinion. But I doubt she will. (Then again, even if she is in the wrong, I doubt she believes she is…) Honestly, if she resigns or is forced to resign, I won’t miss her caustic attitude, or her GOB connections.
The other school members are right - this can’t come at a worse time, with the budget situation ahead of the SC. As this is a legal matter, the courts will have to decide, but if there was truly wrongdoing on Faticanti’s part, she should be doubly ashamed of herself, as this disharmony could endanger our kids’ education here in Lowell.
I don’t suppose all this will be resolved one way or the other before the next election so we can base our voting decisions on it. Sigh.
(Edit: Not that I would ever in a million years endorse or vote for Faticanti, but I mean, for other people to base their decisions on.)

Scott even wore the red suit! It’s true, little red riding hood vs., well you know. Funny thing, she was becoming to look like Caulfield’s third arm there for a while. They were always together. Let’s see if Mayor Mc Cheese will put his petty differences aside to work for the common good.

I perceived the red suit to symbolize the fighting color.

This whole issue has been handled very badly. Putting out an RFP that could potentially threaten that many jobs should be on the backs of the entire school committee. And running a vendopr through without prior notice to lunch staff is, in my eyes, a move to intimidate. And I ran into an acquaintance from Chelsford yesterday who told me that her kids won’t even eat the luches because they are so bad.

Don’t let the chicken pie argument get in the way of the real issue here. Regina’s total disregard of professionalism, her arrogance and her criminal actions are the heart of the matter. I commend Ms Scott for having the stones needed to put Faticanti in her place. Bullying is not allowed in the playgrounds and it should not be tolerated in government.

The lunches in Chelmsford are bad? Then what are the lunches in schools now? as someone who recently left the public school system not too long ago, I can tell you that absolutely nothing about school lunches are homeade, healthy, or desireable at all. Most of what they offer is frozen anyway. If this new system is going to save money, I don’t see what all of the fuss is about. If you really don’t like the lunches, then PACK a lunch for your kids!
In regards to Faticanti, I simply hope the voters this November do the right thing and send the piece of trash packing.

When does the superindent’s evaluation come up again? How can Regina do any kind of unbiased evaluation considering the current events? In my mind she has to go. Whether she is guilty or not, her credibility is destroyed. The Sun mentioned that she used middlesex county equipment to email the alleged threats which in private companies is automatic grounds for dismissal but we’re talking about the well connected so that will be glossed over.

Another question here is why is Mayor Mc Cheese so quiet?? Why has he broken with tradition and not leaked anything to the boys at the Sun? Is there someone in his family on the sheriff’s payroll? Sorry, he usually doen’t leak, he hemorrhages.

As I recall years ago Ed Kennedy, then a Middlesex Cty Commish, used a county copy machine for some campaign activity in Lowell and the ethics commission may have gotten involved.
Nothing is likely to happen to Regina until after the magistrates hearing, then if he finds probable cause things will get interesting.

Does anyone else smell something here? Bud’s son in law, Rita Mercier who pulled in 55k for 24 hours a week, Regina for 55k, Barbara (Wallace) Maloney for 45k, and at the top of the order Paul (the runt of the litter) Meehan at 90 thousand. Anybody get it??

Point #1: I’m not a fan of Regina. I don’t like her positions on many issues, she seems to be part of the GOB system focusing on favors and patronage, and she’s a rude bully who doesn’t reflect well on the Lowell public schools. She’s never got my vote and never will.
Point #2: This matter seems way over the top. Criminal charges? Come on! From what I can see and from what I hear the Superintendent is blowing this thing way out of proportion. Either she’s in way over her head in a school system and environment that is way way bigger than she’s ready for or she’s manipulating this whole thing to get rid of the one SC member she can’t handle. Either way a bad way situation for the schools and the City.
I guess we’ll see how it goes.

PC Middlesex (County when it existed) Govt has always been the small version of the Turnpike Authority. Know a pol (or be one) and get a job!

WTH,
Regarding criminal charges being over the top… isn’t that a question that can only be answered by an examination of what specifically happened and what are the specific laws? Anybody know those details? If not, we can’t know if charges are over the top.

Ellie: The point of my post was to show that they’re all in bed with each other and when they disagree, it is staged and calculated. As for the details, Mayor Mc Cheese obviously has been threatened with something, otherwise the Batphone in the newsroom would be ringing off the hook.

Mr. L.,
Again, I’m not a fan of Regina but from what I’ve heard there’s the usual rudeness but nothing criminal. On a somewhat related note I think its interesting that we have moved from innocent until guilty to guilty until proven otherwise.

with regard to the last comment: elected officials are..er should be held to a higher standard. Unfortunately, “some” elected officials appear to believe they are above reproach. When the public trust is placed in the hands of “said” person, yes it IS a differant standard. BTW, it is my feeling that the “public trust” has been violated more times than a..(that would be in poor taste..you can ad lib).

WTH,
Well if you know the details then you know more than most of us. Those details you know, of course, might indicate that criminal charges are ‘over the top’, but since I don’t know the details I’ll have to refrain from agreeing with you until the facts come out. I don’t know if she’s innocent. I don’t know if she’s guilty. I don’t know, and therefore will not assert that bringing charges is an ‘over the top’ move. What I can say is that based on past behavior, that she’s ’stepped in it’ isn’t surprising.

WTH I would speculate that if Lowell PD investigated and are bringing it to a clerk magistrate then there might be something there. We’ll have to see.
PC I was just pointing out that in order to get a good paying county job you still have to be an insider. Always been that way and probably always will since county government no longer exists but the jobs for the well connected do.
As for the “Bud Phone” not ringing at the museum like it does routinely, I think even Bud knows not to get in the middle of a fight like this.
I also got a kick out of the esteemed editor at the museum whinning that no one is talking…since he’s the one that canned his experienced reporters that had developed relationships with these people, what does he expect?

Time to add Ken Lavallee to the list of people I don’t envy.
Good luck with that, Chief!

According to today’s Lowell Sun,the official opinion of the the City Solicitor is that Scott was wrong in issuing an RFP without bringing it to the entire school committee. Not only that, the RFP was sent out before it would have even had time to go to the Committee. That action seems either badly misinformed or arrogant on the part of the issuing parties. I would also like to see the full details of the crimnal complaint before I form an opinion as to “guilt’ or “innocence”.
May 13th, 2009 at 1:34 pm
Maybe the RFP was wrong. So is threatening to stuff someone’s testicles down his throat. PLEEEEZE can we have a serious contender to this woman this year?? Can you imagine some of the ads??
May 13th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
PC, perhaps the campaign slogan would be..”vote for me, or I’ll cut your (fill in the blanks) off”! Hee, hee, hee..
May 13th, 2009 at 7:58 pm
How about “I wasn’t born with them but I own a bunch”.
May 14th, 2009 at 6:50 am
I wonder who at the Sun kept removing the Topix comments that quoted what Regina said.
May 15th, 2009 at 7:56 am
Doesn’t matter, the paper loves Bud and Regina. Both of the are so puffed up and pompous, they can’t keep their mouths shut and the paper treats them differently. If the Sun had two more of this type of politician, they could lay off their city hall reporters.
