Why hire a spokesperson if he/she is not going to talk to the press? The Sun’s Sunday Column reported that back on May 8th, they asked Sheriff James DiPaola’s spokesman Michael Hartigan a number of questions regarding Middlesex County Sheriff Department employee and Lowell School Committee person Regina Faticanti’s alleged use of a Department computer to make the alleged threat against School Superintendent Chris Augusta Scott.
To date, Hartigan has not provided any information nor answered any of the paper’s questions. So, why do we need a spokesperson if he is not going to talk to the press? Why have a spin doctor on staff, if you are not going to let him spin?

The mark of a good spokesperson is someone who can talk to the press, or anyone else, and lead you to believe he/she answered the question when they didn’t. The mark of a hack is one that just avoids the press entirely.

Well EB, that settles it for me…
Bill Belichick: Worlds best spokesperson. Seriously, check out one of his press conferences.

The Sheriffs’ departments are probably a good place to look for reform and savings while trying to get a balanced budget.

I read in the local paper that most Lowell politicians were lining up in behalf of Ms. Reggie and that Dr. Scott was just an outsider seeking justice in a “system” that reeks of misguided loyalties. I also read that the person who is to hear the evidence on Friday in court is a friend of the above mentioned Ms. Reggie. The “locals” are stating that Dr. Scott should be satisfied with an apology from the mouthy member of the S.C. Does that not reek of an admission of guilt and,”Please don’t cause our friend to suffer the consequences of her threats.”?
Shame,shame.

They need to resolve this legally, or preferably have it dismissed after a resignation,… quickly either way. The more that the grandstanding of ‘GOBer’ side of Lowell visibly flexes its muscle, it makes investors (Trinity?) nervous about doing business here.

Actually he IS. He doesn’t care what anyone thinks, he gets what HE wants out there via presser or WEEI intreview and focuses on what actual Pats fans really care about- on field results. He says three words all year and wins a super bowl are you crying about it? The only ones who cry and complain are the media because he gives them nothing, and it makes their job tougher. They hate him for it because as local sribes will tell you- he loves doing it to them.
No matter how much pissing and moaning this blog or others may do about this situation there’s a good chance it gets swept under the rug unless they have a smoking gun (emails or a voice mail) and even then wouldn’t this go before a Lowell judge? Hate to break it to you but I’d be willing to wager Regina gets a slap on the wrist and won’t have to resign if she draws the right juiced in Lowell judge. If the right court officer sets the docket- that’s a shoe in to happen. 22 years in office and a life-long Lowell residents have a funny way of dancing through the raindrops when it comes to this stuff especially against an outsider.
Lowell residents are funny that way. Cry and complain yes. But actually replace the GOB? Nah. Makes too much sense.

How can you replace the GOB when no one runs? How can anyone want to run when the consequences are going up against this sort of person, and running citywide is really expensive, and there’s no districts?
Sigh.

Exactly how they want it. As Bodie on The Wire finally realized in the final season when his “boys” abandoned him to take the fall alone-
“This game is rigged yo.”

The Mark…actually Bill doesn’t say anything but EVERYONE knows it, so as a spokesperson he’s not very good. It’s the ones that leave you thinking they answered the questions when they didn’t that are worth their weight in gold! lol

Yes EB, but that’s the genius… everyone knows he didn’t answer the question (or at least didn’t go where he was lead with the question) but everyone leaves satisfied afterward. Post game especially. It’s amazing to watch. I’m sure a lot of it comes from the ‘in Bill we trust’ phenomenon

The Mark:
Congrats. LiL’s first reference to The Wire.

The single most important show in the history of television…. Must watch for everyone….

The Wire may be the best television series ever done, anywhere. Sadly it made me feel better about where I work because obviously this stuff goes on everywhere. The writers couldn’t (and didn’t) just make this stuff up.
