If you haven’t read the two Lowell Sun articles, here (Jennifer Myers), and here (no byline), please go do so.
The courts will decide about the allegations but if the account is true, it is extremely disturbing.

I think the best part of that story was that Jay Lang said he’d talk to her then didn’t take the call. Looks like he wanted to keep ‘em safe.

Any private sector situation with a competent manager would, at a minimum, put Regina somewhere else where she couldn’t expose the company to litigation,… up to and including termination. It’s called a ‘hostile work environment’ and it’s actionable.
If Regina stays and persists, Scott could sue the committee and win.

Such embarrassing, crude and sad behavior from an elected official there to serve the public. It seem when we perpetuate cliches like “in Lowell politics is a bloodsport,” we as community give tacit support for such intimidating and bullying tactics. And by electing officials who use such tactics we give give the support outright.

Faticanti is too stubborn to quit on her own so she’s going to have to be taken down. I cannot wait to see that, she is a cancer.

This is an interesting workplace case beacuse the schools make such an important effort at dealing with the issue of ‘bullying’ and here we have something like this near the top of the school system. And, in the midst of the community struggling to figure out how to salvage the schools and what they provide the city’s young people, this entire mess is not good at all. Mr. L is correct that in the private sector this would be dealt with swiftly or the firm could suffer legal harm. And Felicia, your point about folks so casually yacking ‘politics is a bloodsport’ is a good one.

Nyman also questions why Scott waited a week before going to the police, stating that the delay shows she “was not made fearful by the comments. The fact that she was allegedly upset by the comments, does not equal fear.”
That’s complete nonsense. People don’t report crimes to the police because they’re scared to all the time.

This is why the Lowell school system is such a sinkhole. Good people leave every day, like the Math dep. head of LHS today. Remember, these are the same people who think Mr. Never-leaves-his-office-for-anyone-but-a-sun-photographer Samaras is doing a great job. I’m working on my resume.

I have a really long response that I’m going to post on the shallot on Monday instead of hogging up this space. (The Shallot takes weekends off from the hate per doctor’s orders.) Hey how about a link to the shallot anyway? Let’s not stoop to the level of the school committee and commit blog on blog crime. How about Mr Mill City too? That’s one funny mother f’er.

If you really think the Lowell schools are such a “sinkhole”, I’m glad you are working on your resume. Probably another one of those people who doesn’t mind getting a paycheck in Lowell but would never actually stoop to living here. Glad to see you go.

It’s time for Regina to go - but as we all know, it’s next to impossible to beat an incumbent, especially when few citizens put their names on the ballot - and sadly, when such a small percent of people vote! Politians around the country get voted into office despite criminal charges against them….all the time. I’m just happy Regina no longer has air space on WCAP. She was a total embarrassment to the Lowell school committee…with her often ‘rita-istic’ comments. Lowell deserves better. I applaud Superintendent Chris Scott for taking action against school committee woman Faticanti. It’s about time someone stands up to these “holier than now politicians”.

If one works under certain people in this school system, I could totally see why their moral is so low, “Parent.” Maybe that ought to be looked into? I can’t count the number of complaints I’ve heard about that particular individual that “Teacher” mentioned.

I take issue with a teacher, who apparently works in Lowell, making a blanket offensive statement about our schools- “sinkhole”. I am a graduate of Lowell High School (in fact I remember Samaras as chair of the History Dept.) I went on to attend college and have an MBA. My children attend Lowell public schools and several of my family members are or were teachers in the Lowell schools and have made other contributions to Lowell public schools. I’m personally offended by such remarks. More importantly, if I can see good things coming out of Lowell schools everyday, why can’t “teacher”? We don’t need our own staff people putting down Lowell! These are the people with whom I am entrusting my children and whose salary you and I pay.

Yup. That sounds like Regina to me!

A casual observer might say that Regina had a bad day. Or, after years of working at the jail she has developed this nasty way of doing business. Those of us who’ve known her forever know that she’s been like that since grammar school. With her, what you see is what you get.

Here’s the deal on Regina. She got elected because she was young. She popped off a bit and got good press (measured by quantity.) She popped off more and got getter press. She because an oft-incoherent squawker and thus carved out her niche. Public employment followed. Regina’s public persona is not based on kids, it’s not based on education, it’s not based on leadership. it’s based on the eternal glorification of Regina.
Say good night Regina.

Let’s just name something after her and hope she goes away. Maybe something around the judicial center??
June 29th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
LMAO, PC, now that is some idea!
I mean you have to know that in 10-15 years, there will be something named after her…you can almost bet on it.

How about an anti-bullying course at the High School?
