The summer is finally here…well, except for the weather. Candidate season!
First, Ryan Berard is holding his first campaign fundraiser on July 16th from 6-10PM at the East End Club, 15 W. Fourth St.
Next, a press release from Patrick Murphy:
MURPHY ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR LOWELL CITY COUNCIL
Patrick Ó. Murphy, a twenty-seven year old resident of the Grove, will challenge for a top spot on the Lowell City Council this November. After his bid for Congress in 2007, Murphy now turns his attention to a seat his grandfather George B. Murphy held over half a century ago. A tireless worker and a clear, creative thinker, Patrick will build upon the successes of his past experience to help bring lasting positive change to the council and the city of Lowell.
Some will recognize a number of similar elements from his unconventional congressional campaign in this race for City Council. Murphy will maintain his focus on sustainable growth with proposals aimed at strengthening our local economy, ecology and community in a comprehensive and cohesive vision. He will continue his grassroots efforts to register more residents, actively involve more voters, and lay the groundwork for greater democracy and engagement here in the city.
Accordingly, Patrick again refuses to raise money for his own campaign. He asks that those wishing to support his candidacy financially consider instead donating to one of many local organizations, some of which have secure links that can be found on his new website www.ThinkMurphy.com. Murphy also plans to forgo a councilor’s stipend and benefits of any kind from the City of Lowell, thus reaffirming what he believes to be the truest sense of public service.
