Dick, Tony and Paul have already posted on tonight’s Hot Dog gathering of Lowell blogsphere, facebook, twitter community members and friends at Elliott’s. It was a lot of fun to step out of the cyber world and visit with your neighbors. I literally ran into my next door neighbor; he was a guest of Gary Francis.
It was good seeing the new breed of City Council candidates: Paul Belley; Ryan Berard; Frankie Descotaux and Patrick Murphy and their families; and of course, my fellow bloggers and spouses; commentators and readers. It was a great evening, and I look forward to the next meet up when Garcia Brogan opens up at the Early Garage.
During the two hours or so when I was outside talking (after I ate my hot dog and fries inside), I had dozens of conversations including one with local cable tv show producer and former radio talk host, John McDonough.
During the course of our talk, John asked me why don’t I use my full name when I post. I explained to him that the standard protocol in the blogsphere is to use a moniker which is usually your first name. I have no problems telling everyone who does not already know my full name. I thought that those who really cared knew my full name and more importantly knew who I was.
So just in case there are people who are regular readers of LiL and do not know my full name and want to know it, I am (Muriel) Mimi Parseghian and I love living in Lowell. If you are really interested in who I am, you can Google me. Otherwise, I will let my words describe what I think, therefore who I am.

I shall hope that Mr. McDonough is as interested in the content of your, or any blogger’s comments as the content of a “full name”. This name thing seems a convenient diversion from considering the substance of a post. Some have none, some have some, some support one’s own ideas, some challenge. But isn’t the true name of American political discourse the quality of the content? by Anon or not.

Thank you JDayne, that’s perfectly put!
It *is* a distraction from the real issue and the merits of any argument. I wonder why they feel the need to divert attention from the real debate? *thinks*

Mr. McD thinks the biggest problem in the Lowell City Council Chamber is the lack of air conditioning when the public knows its all the “hot air”.

because, “they” want to know where their detractors live….(remember veiled threats from last Saturday’s interview with CC R. Mercier).
Mr. McD’s biggest problem is that he doesn’t have a steady audience of more than a dozen individuals to listen to his BS.

“veiled threats from last Saturday’s interview”
Who did the interview. Was this a Sun piece?

Veiled threats? I missed that. I was sitting two feet from her? Can you flesh that out for me?

Ms. Dayne, I hear what your saying but I can see where others are coming from too. Meaning if you’ve put yourself out there to in your mind do the right thing and can point to a track record. But for some people to just take pot shots with no basis? And then not knowing where or why this is coming from can for some people with think skin really get under it. Me, I could care less. Others. Not so much. Plus you don’t know what their motives are. It could be a political rival, concerned citizen, and with the ease of using different IP addresses one person with enough time and an ax to grind making it look like they are ten to twenty people. But if you listened on Saturday Morning you would know that I said all that before!

Ms. Dayne as you call her is an example for every single one of us that has an opinion to express…she did not write idly on a blog, she presented herself front and center at the city council meeting and expressed her dismay to them in person. We should ALL do the same!

Just look at Mc Donough’s website photos and you’ll see for yourself how cozy he is with Rita and he’s the mayor’s boss! He’s not kidding anybody. Mimi- watch your tax bill.

KMM,
I agree 100%. I too have gone before the council and told them exactly how I feel about an issue. You know what? It feels great! Best way to make all our voices heard is taking 10 mins on the way to or coming home from work and getting yourself to the polls. That in the end is what matters most.

I was confused by Prince Charming’s comment at 1916 on the 5th. John McDonough is no one’s boss, except the folks at his funeral home. Well, also George Anthes on City Life. And, while he is friends with everyone, he has an insatiable hunger to learn about new things and about his environment. He can be opinionated, but I think he tends to give people a fair shake. On the other hand, if he thinks you disregard him, he tends to return the favor. Sometimes this is just a miscommunication. Still, a miscommunication not cleared up is like a fact.
In Lowell, to get beyond the “Blood Sport” appellation we are going to have to focus on the issues and move away from the personalities.

Sorry Cliff, he once compared my wife to NAMBLA. Not a fair shake and not a miscommunication. It was completely reprehensible and uncalled for and I believe, to date, he has yet to apologize for it. As such I’ve written him off.

Mr Lynne
He shouldn’t have made that comparison.
