The sole challenger for School Committee, Alison Laraba, has launched her website, larabaforlowell.com. Full disclosure: I helped her with the website and some literature.
If you haven’t met Alison yet, you should. She is a dedicated mom who decided to run when she saw no one else stepping up to the plate. I have spoken to her at length, and I don’t need any more information to officially endorse Alison for School Committee. Please reserve one of your votes next month for Alison!
Update: We’ve just added the ability to donate online to Alison. Please consider donating to her campaign!

I hope that she is for privitizing the school lunch program. This is such a waste of money that the teachers could use in the classrooms. What they serve for meals could easily be prepared elsewhere. I think they should also make some type of swipe program so that less cash has to be accounted for.

Kim, I would take the card swipe a step further and make it so there is a mechanism that parents could “charge” their swipe cards, say online. That way, I’m not sending my 8 & 9 yr old to school with scads of money.

Those are great suggestions, and I know Alison is interested in hearing them. She has a lot of food service experience herself, and is open to trying new ways to make things more efficient and cost effective. I encourage you both to contact School Committee members with your ideas and/or concerns.
