Hayden Doesn’t Like Us?

by at 5:11 pm.

Hayden waxes unhappy at his coverage on that “Left in whatever.” I love McDonough’s comeback: “This blog you’re talking about, what language is it written in?” Oooh, so clever, you. Hilarious.

By the way, buddy, what we covered and how we called it on this blog, we took from your own actions as a committeperson and your own website. I can tell you that I have no regrets whatsoever in exposing you.

One question for LiL nation — can anyone confirm if/whether Cassin’s last name is pronounced ‘Cash-In’? (Someone on election night told me is the proper pronunciation). If that’s true, that’s material for open mike night down at Mickey’s. But seriously, folks..

  2. Jack Mitchell Says:

Mr. Hayden, did I cross the line?

Mike Hayden vows to go to jail before letting illegal immigrants in Greater Lowell.

Please, there is no need to make such a sacrifice, Mr. Hayden. You need only comply with the laws, as written in the MGL! Easy, breezy, beautiful. Simply follow the law of the land.

If the laws do not suit your personal liking, please quit your role serving the public in your current capacity. It may be that you are better suited to run for elected office as a legislator. Of course, there will still be pesky little rules that you would have to follow. Even lawmakers follow laws.

Until you find your true calling, however, please consider that you merely fulfill your job description and quit grandstanding your personal political views from the privileged position that Lowell voters have lifted you to.

Chapter 71: Section 37. Powers and duties
Section 37. The school committee in each city and town and each regional school district shall have the power to select and to terminate the superintendent, shall review and approve budgets for public education in the district, and shall establish educational goals and policies for the schools in the district consistent with the requirements of law and statewide goals and standards established by the board of education.

    “Waa, waa.” - Mike Hayden

So Hayden wants (illegal) immigrants to learn English, but he doesn’t want them going to school. It seems to me that the best place immigrant children might be able to learn English is school. Just a hunch.

While people such as Hayden aren’t (or at least don’t seem to be) racists per se, I have to seriously question their fixation on illegal immigrants. I’m not saying it isn’t a problem, but of all the shit to worry about in this country, Mexicans illegally crossing the border is on page 37. Hayden and his ilk are exactly what’s wrong with this country. While Wall Street is taking our money and gets a seemingly infinite line of credit from the US taxpayers, Hayden would have us go after the janitors and lettuce-pickers in America who don’t have proper documentation.

No wonder we have such crappy representation.

  4. Mimi Says:

Whatever? Did he forget the name of the City we all live in?

  5. Lynne Says:

To Greg - I can’t confirm or deny the pronunciation, though given that I am the queen of “I read ‘em, I don’t say ‘em” I don’t even want to hazard a guess. :)

  6. K-R-S Says:

I sense an unnatural fixation on the whole “illegal” issue. Seriously, if he wants to effect change in that area, he should run for US Senate ..all I can say is B.F.D. that he doesn’t like LiL..message to MH..if you don’t want to be called on your beliefs..then don’t put it out there on a website that is accessible to the public.

  7. K-R-S Says:

Lynne..you need to post LiL (for accessibility reason) in multilingual formats..;0)

  8. VoteforPedro Says:

Let me do you first one for you Italian…it is titled Mike Hayden….Va Fungul!

  9. Jack Mitchell Says:

    Listen up, Marine!

329 INA Naturalization through active-duty service in the Armed Forces during military hostilities [8 USC 1440]

    (a) Requirements - Any person who, while an alien or a noncitizen national of the United States, has served honorably as a member of the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve or in an active-duty status in the military, air, or naval forces of the United States during either World War I or during a period beginning September 1, 1939, and ending December 31, 1946, or during a period beginning June 25, 1950, and ending July 1, 1955, or during a period beginning February 28, 1961, and ending on a date designated by the President by Executive order as of the date of termination of the Vietnam hostilities, or thereafter during any other period which the President by Executive order shall designate as a period in which Armed Forces of the United States are or were engaged in military operations involving armed conflict with a hostile foreign force, and who, if separated from such service, was separated under honorable conditions, may be naturalized as provided in this section if

    (1) at the time of enlistment, reenlistment, extension of enlistment, or induction such person shall have been in the United States, the Canal Zone, American Samoa, or Swains Island, or on board a public vessel owned or operated by the United States for noncommercial service, whether or not he has been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence, or

    (2) at any time subsequent to enlistment or induction such person shall have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence. The executive department under which such person served shall determine whether persons have served honorably in an active-duty status, and whether separation from such service was under honorable conditions: Provided, however, That no person who is or has been separated from such service on account of alienage, or who was a conscientious objector who performed no military, air, or naval duty whatever or refused to wear the uniform, shall be regarded as having served honorably or having been separated under honorable conditions for the purposes of this section. No period of service in the Armed Forces shall be made the basis of an application for naturalization under this section if the applicant has previously been naturalized on the basis of the same period of service.

    Now I’m just piling on.

Immigrants who are permanent residents, with documents commonly known as green cards, have long been eligible to enlist. But the new effort, for the first time since the Vietnam War, will open the armed forces to temporary immigrants if they have lived in the United States for a minimum of two years, according to military officials familiar with the plan.
    -snip

The program will begin small — limited to 1,000 enlistees nationwide in its first year, most for the Army and some for other branches. If the pilot program succeeds as Pentagon officials anticipate, it will expand for all branches of the military. For the Army, it could eventually provide as many as 14,000 volunteers a year, or about one in six recruits.

About 8,000 permanent immigrants with green cards join the armed forces annually, the Pentagon reports, and about 29,000 foreign-born people currently serving are not American citizens.

Although the Pentagon has had wartime authority to recruit immigrants since shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks, military officials have moved cautiously to lay the legal groundwork for the temporary immigrant program to avoid controversy within the ranks and among veterans over the prospect of large numbers of immigrants in the armed forces.

I expect that exposing Mr. Hayden on the Left-in-whatever site cost him enough votes to seal his defeat in the recent election.

  12. Lynne Says:

I’m happy to take the blame! :D

For once it actually might be properly placed (as opposed to when they blamed us for Cox’s ouster, or what have you).

  13. joe from Lowell Says:

I want people to speak English, so therefore, illegal immigrants shouldn’t go to school.

Jumping Chocolate Jesus on a Pogo Stick! You want people to speak English, so you’re working to keep immigrants from going to school? What the hell?

  14. Brian Flaherty Says:

I read the Sun everyday and never noticed this guy’s column. How long has he been writing for the paper? Did they disclose this relationship during the campaign?

Kind of like Dracut Selectman James O’Loughlin who also writes for the Sun - never heard them disclose that.

  15. Mimi Says:

    Brian:

He has been writing for a few years; a column on Anger Management. I do not think columnists like him get paid. Their business gets a plug. It is the sad state of the newspaper industry.

I do not know if they suspend the columnist during election time; you know the way radio and tv does; equal time law.

And frankly, I did not know that James O’Loughlin wrote a column; what is the subject area?

  16. Brian Flaherty Says:

Jim writes the “Archives” column, whatever it’s called on Mondays and he does a similar one for sports at another point in the week. He also had some columns in the Sunday Focus section around election time a few months ago.

  17. Eleanor Rigby Says:

No they did not suspend his column during the election, there is no equal time (or space) provision in the print media.
