Just in case you missed it, State investigators probing Lowell’s DPW and Parks Department.
According to the Sun’s web site “state investigators spent Thursday interviewing city employees in an effort to weed out wrong-doing in the Department of Public Works and Parks and Recreation Commission.
The [ten] investigators, assigned to the office of Inspector General Gregory Sullivan, interviewed 12 employees of the Department of Public Works and Parks and Recreation Commission, including their respective heads, T.J. McCarthy and Thomas Bellegarde.”
The Sun article does not indicate whether this investigation is a result of the issues in the Inspection Department but they do quote City Manager Bernie Lynch as saying that there will be personnel repercussions as an outcome of this investigation.
Now I know what Dick meant when he cryptically commented on his blog this morning about CitiStat and wrote “the city administration with the help of a certain state agency, has identified some significant “efficiencies” that will improve the operation of city government.”
As they say, stay tuned. Why does it seem like all the big stories news stories occur on Friday afternoon?

They bury this story on a Friday night so nobody pays attention. Then, they can put their own spin on it.

Interesting that the Sun considers hiring a data analyst a waste of money…business as usual is okay then?
Yes, breaking an unflattering story on Friday is a time honored tradition of making it public when the fewest number of people are looking!

And now the story is missing from the SUN on-line.
