Holy crap! David’s headline says it all. “US awards $106 million for energy research; MA gets over 20% of it.”
We got 1/5th of the grants for this? Whoa! Now, tell me again whether or not you think the green energy initiatives by the lege and Governor are working or not?
David also quotes the whole list of awarded projects. Those grants will produce new jobs, and create the green tech of the future. I don’t know if I’ve said this lately but, I do so love living in Massachusetts. We rock.

Education is a great investment.

Something tells me we won’t see this kind of money keep coming in if Cahill is in charge.

Agreed, -b!! Or, even, really, Baker. I don’t see anything positive coming out of him except “we’ll do everything, but cut the budget.”
Um…where’s he been the last couple of years while the budget has been slashed to ribbons?
Government has a role to play in how our economy runs, and I don’t have to tell you how I feel that the current Governor is doing a damned fine job of this. It’s one of his biggest strong suits, IMHO. He thinks long term, and it’s already paying off. With another term under his belt, we can really see some great results for our quality of life (which, frankly, is already damned good compared to most of the rest of the country).

Mass might indeed have 1/5th of the country’s high-tech brain power. We have the highest concentration of higher education per square mile around Boston and many tech companies are here because of this available labor pool. So I’m not surprised at our relative size of this pie just like I’m not surprised at the relative size of our oil refinery production. It’s just the way the geography cookie crumbles - the resources best applied toward this task just happen to be here in relative abundance.
