(Le bump. Rainy weekends are GREAT for spaghetti, music, great company, great products, and a great cause!)
This Saturday, I am putting on a fundraiser for my friend Carrie Little, who has Cystic Fibrosis and just underwent a double lung transplant. The costs of this are in large part covered (to the tune of up to a quarter mil) but a lot of the costs are not, and I’m grateful that I can do a little bit (pun intended) to help out a friend.
Some of you might remember Carrie from the 2006 Patrick campaign. She was an enthusiastic supporter and volunteer. Due to her health, she hadn’t been as active in politics as of late, but she knows that now she has new lungs she WILL be recruited again! So let’s celebrate her good fortune, and ours, in having Carrie around and active to light up our lives. If you don’t know her, you should!
The event is a spaghetti supper, $10/$5 for kids suggested donation. There will be a silent auction, live music and Carrie-oke (get it? Karaoke?), and a vendor bazaar, with at least five excellent vendors. And if you cannot make the event, you can still buy from these vendors online and have it go towards the fundraiser! (Details below.)
The event will be on Saturday, June 25th, from 4pm to 8pm at the Chelmsford First Parish Unitarian Church at 2 Westford St. I am working with an official organization, NTAF, so your direct donations are tax-deductible (I will have forms at the event). (See details below on online donations.)
Princess House Giftware (quality kitchen and decor). If you can’t make the event, you can buy online at Patty’s website, or email her (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your order and specify in either case that this is associated with the Carrie Little fundraiser. Or you can contact her for a catalog at 978-250-1150.
Mary Kay (who needs no introduction!). I have bought Mary Kay and the products are high quality. If you want to order online because you can’t make the event, you can go to Elaine’s website, please reference Carrie Little in the memo line so she knows it’s for the benefit.
Jockey Person to Person (clothing line). I have some Jockey clothes - so comfortable, and they have great “basics” like black pants, skirts, and dresses, along with great coats, belts, and scarves. Kristin’s website is here, or you can email her your order, and of course specify that it’s for Carrie Little.
Tastefully Simple (gourmet foods). I had a chance to try some of the frozen sangria this weekend…it was awesome. You can go order online here, and search for the event by putting “un” in First Name field (no quotes) and “ch” in Last Name field, and you’ll see the Unitarian Church event in the search results. Click on that to select the party and then shop and buy!
Creative Memories Consultant (scrapbooking items). If you are a scrapbooking enthusiast you can’t miss this event! But if you have to anyway, you can browse online at Wendy’s website. Then email the items you want to buy to her, and specify it’s for Carrie.
We also have silent auction items, including four hours of an excellent handyman/contractor’s service ($240 value), jewelry, closet consulting service, an interior designer consultation, four tickets to the Disney Live! Phineas and Ferb event at the Tsgonas Arena in November, a $50 gift card to Carrabbas (or Outback or Bonefish), a set of gift certificates to a 1 hour massage and polarity session, and more!
You can also donate directly to Carrie via her NTAF website.
Thanks, and I really do hope to see you at the event, because it’s going to be a lot of fun!
