Meddling Bad, Backfires

by at 4:17 pm.

Blogger fist bump to Chris Scott:

When reached by The Column Blog Tuesday, Sheehy said: “I support Superintendent Franco and her staff and I support their decision.”

Sheehy’s actions since the hiring was announced, however, appear to run counter to her public comments.

She voiced her displeasure with the hiring in separate meetings with Franco and Lang Monday morning. Additionally, her School Committee advocate, Dave Conway, is busy planting seeds around the city that Sheehy is more qualified and that she’s the victim of a political war between herself and Lang, who some say views Sheehy as a threat.

Just about every rock has been turned over. Here’s hoping that sunlight IS the best disinfectant.

PS. An observer told me earlier today, Dave Conway should go for the GLTHS seat. It’s more his “style,” out there.

Ann Sheehy serves on the LTC Board and was reccommended for that post to the school committee and Supt. by Mr. Lang. There is no bad blood between them and Mr. Lang I am sure is not threatened by her because they have worked together in the past.

  2. Prince Charming Says:

She’s not a threat to Lang. She’s not that type. That said, didn’t one of Conway’s buddies threaten to castrate and then spoon-feed Lang?

  3. JL Says:

Lang does not like qualified women. Schlichter, mulligan, chea, sheehy

  4. Eleanor Rigby Says:

What happened to Schlichter, chea, mulligan, now Sheehy?

  5. Jack Says:

Comments #3 & #4 come from the same IP and neither match those used by Eleanor Rigby in previous posts. I’m gonna be super pissed if an Anon hijacked one of LiL’s regular’s “handle.”

  6. Jack Says:

First brush with the “What happened to…?” is that there was a dispute over pay scales and “seniority accounting.” That this is not a gender issue at all, but Lang not rolling over for the administrator’s union.

So, here we go with a “Punched the girl” charge against Lang. All the cards will be played, even the Jokers.

  7. JC Says:

So the superintendent hired the most qualified and withstood the political sponsorship of a less qualified candidate!

Both the candidate and her political sponsor are wrong to play the sour grapes game - it’s counterproductive (just look at this blog). True professionals who encounter an unexpected setback hunker down and go on - reputation intact and ready for the next opportunity.

  8. Anonymous Says:

Perhaps Ms Sheehy is qualified, but if you ask around you’ll find out she has very many skeletons in her closet.

  9. Jack Says:

    About the last post, #8.

I was about to delete the post, because it is a drive by anonymous post which adds nothing and is intended to harm. It is posted, so I could make that point and invite it’s author to pick a ‘handle’ and be more constructive.

Also, the question is not IF Sheehy is or isn’t qualified, she is. Did she have the best array of quals and skills? Apparently, the hiring authority was not convinced that she did. Someone else was hired.

What we may never know is did the politics around Sheehy diminish her chances?

The chatter around Sheehy is that Dave Conway went WAAAAY TOO FAR in advocating for her hiring. That he approached “the line”, nudged it, stood on it, crossed it, and was last seen pushing past it. Much to the dismay and aggravation of his school committee peers and LPS Administration.

As for Sheehy’s “skeletons,” if we are talking about her personal life, who cares?

However, as Sheehy appears to be inclined to play politics with Conway, we could surmise that she is inclined to dabble in the black arts of “palace intrigue.” If so, she may have burned some bridges where she works. So, if by “skeletons,” you mean bad blood, distrust and dislike? Only the shadow knows…..

Though, the more this drags out, the more will be known. IF we get to the interogatories, the “intrigue” will lay dead on the floor.
