No one told Rita Mercier she was going to have to cheerlead for Jon Golnik? How could she not know? Was this her first rodeo? Party splitting is hard, Rita. That’s why it’s ill advised. Sure, a few Brown supporters are happy, but most Tsongas supporters will be a mite peeved. Ooopsie.

Jon #Golnik and #Billerica state Rep. Marc Lombardo, w/Rita Mercier, at Scott Brown rally.
Well, in for a penny, in for a pound, I guess. She really rocked the joint, they say:

Not that there was that big of a crowd. See the curtain divider, splitting Cumnock Hall in half? You can tell by the 3 full windows behind the curtain.

For those that have never been in Cumnock Hall, it’s about as big as a small school gymnasium.
Update: The graph below shows total votes in Lowell’s municipal elections. It shows the total ballots cast, the #1 seed and the #9 seed. If the track holds, the #1 seed will pull around 5,000 votes in 2013. If total votes trends down, then Rita Mercier is likely safely reelected, though she may not finish #1, as she has the 6 elections this graph covers.

PS. John McDonough somewhat suggested I was data stalking, Rita. Because I knew so much about her waning vote totals. I laughed it off. As you can see, the graph shows the #1 seed’s total waning. That is what I wanted to show, versus the other two metrics. It just so happens that Rita is #1. … For now. };-)>

It’s still a year away, it’s not a partisan election, and it’s the elephants that don’t forget - but still, you have a point.

If talking about the #1 voter getter isn’t normal, I don’t know what is. They want to tout her every five seconds as such, especially with the Brown endorsement, but when you talk about vote totals and trends and such, it’s stalking?
Can’t have your cake and eat it too.

I realize that this may not the biggest issue among the working classes of Lowell (I may be wrong), but I found it funny that Ayotte is rallying with Brown on a college campus, when Ayotte opposes marriage equality and same-sex couple adoption. Ayotte resigned as AG over marriage equality. She’s also more pro-life than Brown claims to be.

Backing up Matt S.
Scott Brown talks “bipartisan,” but hangs with hardcore conservatives. How could that be? You know the answer, don’t you?

Forget the college campus scene, it was just a big place that they had to collapse into a small place to accommodate 100 or so followers.

1000+ in Northampton yesterday without breaking a sweat for Warren.

I am glad to hear there were only a hundred or so folks. How this woman could go with Brown after he not only supported the Blunt amendment but voted against equal pay for woman, voted NO on three jobs bills and two small business bills, virtually creating how many jobs exactly for MA with his record, is beyond me! Obviously this woman is a Republican rightest dressed in democratic clothing! Brown takes Republican money and runs as a Republican candidate, if he were truly independent he would run as one with a big I for his party! His tactics are just the same as Karl Rove and the whole mud slinging gang!
