It has come to my attention that some subset of locals could possibly be blaming City Council candidate Derek Mitchell for the post down-page which includes a graphic with his photo. The reason? I put the words “used with permission” and somehow people without the ability to reason it out might think this means he endorsed the treatment of said photo and/or said post.
To which I say, are you even capable of tying your own shoes in the morning? What gives?
Let’s set the record straight. First off, I did ask if I could use a pic. I had this vague idea about a post I wanted to write regarding the name thing, particularly to point out there are two very different people on the ballot and the potential to mix them up was legion (at least for the “low information” voter, which let’s face it, is many of them, if we’re talking the local level. People are busy, they don’t have as much time to devote to local political minutiae). I didn’t know what I was going to do with it, just that I wanted to make a big deal of separation between the two men.
I wrote the post and made the graphic long after I asked to use the photo. I had a little fun with it. I only put “used with permission” on the photo because it was a well-deserved shot at the Lowell Sun for their blatant stealing of photos from Teh Google in violation of all basic copyright laws. Otherwise I wouldn’t have even put that on there.
Certainly, Derek had zero input or influence on what I wrote. It would be silly to even suggest he had anything to do with it. But I suppose, for some folks, they could use anything to whack a decent guy who isn’t in the pocket of the Boo Birds.
If you’re gonna engage in hand-wringing, folks, at least do it with some basic logic. If that’s possible.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled election.
