Dropped Lit or Dropped Ball?

by at 5:21 pm.

Took a spin around Lowell, except The Belvidere. Not much literature out, considering it is the weekend before.

If you saw lit, got lit, or dropped lit, please chime in. (I’m not talking mailed lit.)

I saw a bunch of Mitchell lit in Ward 8, Ward 10, Ward 11. Saw Kim Scott in Ward 9. Also, Ward 9: Joe Mendonca.

Saw lit in Lower Belvidere, but it was rolled up, so I couldn’t make out who it was for.

I heard Leahy was out in Ward 9 & Rourke was out in Ward 8.

Derek Mitchell with some door knockers in the highlands but nothing in the acre(shocking). If ever there was a day it was today. Absolutely perfect weather on a Saturday before an election. I’ve heard from many sources that this is one if the most exciting fields of candidates in many years. That may be the case but the pre election buzz is just non existent.

  2. Paul Sweeney (AKA Paul@01852) Says:

According to Dan Rourke’s Facebook page his team dropped 4000 pieces today

  3. derek mitchell Says:

Team ‘Derek For All’ was out in force yesterday, dropping about 6,000 pieces of lit with the help of 30 volunteers. We covered S. Lowell, Highlands and Centralville, having blanketed parts of the Acre, Back Central and Belvidere last week and digging deeper into P-ville today. To date, we have been to about 25,000 doors, having knocked on almost a third of them. We have been blessed by a great (and growing) group of volunteers; hopefully that will translate into votes on Tuesday.

  4. Paul Belley Says:

I found a Derek Mitchell door hanger on Friday when I came home from work. Joe Mendonca and Vesna Nuon supporters did visibility at Mammoth and VFW Sat. afternoon. My mailbox was full of Lit as well on Sat.

Hopefully this didn’t come off the wrong way. No lit in my part of the acre was not in any way a message just to the Mitchell campaign. It was a general message that we received nothing this weekend from any of the candidates. Best of luck to you Derek. I have tremendous respect for anybody that puts their name on a ballot and even more respect for those who work their ass off to make it happen.

Derek Mitchell wrote, “We have been blessed by a great (and growing) group of volunteers; hopefully that will translate into votes on Tuesday.”

“Hopefully,” is right. It is always a bit of a crap shoot, these elections.

Certainly, however, this sort of thing doesn’t hurt one iota:

  7. Taxpayer Says:

Did Vesna Noun have any of his signs out front of his condemned dwelling?

  8. Jack Says:

Are these the same people? There’s a few?

And, who remembers the rainy Halloween night, when traffic at Andover and Nesmith was a madhouse?

  9. Magnolia Says:

Everything we have gotten has been in the mail in Middlesex Village. The only candidate we have seen is Corey Belanger. Also one neighbor stopped while out walking his dog to tell us how much he likes Van Pech.

  10. Jack Says:

I can see how that part of town gets neglected. Not a bunch of votes up for grabs and the streets don’t ‘walk well.’ Having all those businesses on Middlesex St stubs off one whole end of the residential streets.

It’s the nature of the ‘canvassing beast.’ Voters are scattered all over. Those living in scattered areas, don’t get touched. That’s part of the reason why Wards 1, 6, 8, & 9 get so much attention. Consistent voters are virtually stacked on top of each other.

If anyone loses by 25 votes, they will regret missing those “sparse” areas.

  11. Joe Says:

Eric gitchier has some interesting flyers in the highlands. They mention that the top nine in prelims had 7 belvedere candidates and 2 pawtucketville. Zero from the highlands. Desperate or smart?
Another candidate “targeting” a particular group is Stacy Hargis who has an add directed towards the women of Lowell. No debate here……smart.

  12. Gail Says:

Derek Mitchell’s team was at my door before the primary and Derek Mitchell has been at my door since the primary. Jim Leahy has been here. I’ve had dropped literature from Rourke, Hargis, & Derek Mitchell– this afternoon. Bill Martin was at Varnum & Mammoth Saturday morning. Darius Mitchel handed me literature at the Merrimack Valley Jazz Festival.

  13. Jack Says:

Gitschier is against the ropes, as Golden has lobbied the local Unions hard for their weight to be thrown to Rourke. And, we know Marty Lorrey is a proven caretaker of working people.

Without a “blue collar bicep,” Gitschier is weakened.

Vesna Nuon lives in the Highlands. Just sayin’.

  14. Jack Says:

    Gail,
I’d be stoked, if you lived in Ward 3,4,5,7,10 or 11.

If those Wards were getting that kind of action, THAT would be something to cheer about.

  15. Joe Says:

In fairness to him it mentioned the results of the preliminary. It wouldn’t have that earth changing worst to first impact that he is hoping for if he was to mention that they are currently being represented. Gitschier is trying to be the next William Wallace. He is uniting the clans. The highlanders are coming down by the hundreds. And thousands!!

  16. Jack Says:

Good luck to him. Uniting the ‘two faced, liars’ with the ‘back stabbers’ is a chore and a half.

I’m trying to GOTV, so they become irrelevant.

  17. Alex Says:

Mr. Gignac stopped by last Saturday in the highlands and had a great conversation. Also, this weekend had literature from Rourke and Gitschier.

  18. marcus vinicius Says:

got flyer at my door for gitchier, {the sleeper in this race
take derek mitchell and stick a fork in him–hes done, and stacy too., prediction—-leahy and lorrey –out
    belanger and gitcshier in.

  19. Jack Says:

    Dearest Lurkers,
You should know marcus vinicus is the Mayor of Coxville. So, take his or her testimony, as such.

Just a reminder of where Coxville is:

  20. Joe Says:

I’m not sure where you get these charts from but one day I would love to see chelmsford’s chart pre, during and post lynch. When lynch left chelmsford they had a solid reserve. Within a year it was wiped out. Was this a case of mismanagement by his replacement or was this a case of “professional management” making the place look a lot better then it really was on his way out the door. This has always been my biggest concern with professional management. No need to get mad with this question. Just prove me wrong with facts.

  21. Jack Says:

    Joe,
Doesn’t Lowell employ an independent auditor?

If I recall, it was Coxie’s guy, Kennedy that had rose colored glasses on.

Maybe you could lift a finger looking around? Seems I have to disprove all your concerns, while you just lob them.

  22. Joe Says:

Fair enough. I know that I have lots of questions/concerns. Some of them are very important to our city. No matter what the topic is I always ask them in a respectful way that leaves you and others on your site a wide open opportunity to counter or debate the questions that I have. If this annoys you(and I see how it might) then I will stop. Just facts and figures from here on out.

  23. joe from Lowell Says:

I got of a ton of drops, here at the top of the Highlands.

    Surprise! lol

You write exactly like the people who told me Mitt Romney Is Surging, and This Is Great News For John McCain.

  25. Jack Says:

If I am annoyed, it’s not because you challenge what we know. It is because you don’t bother to use Teh Google.
